The orientation ride ended at Tivoli Gardens where we had some free time for lunch and a little sightseeing down the Stroget. At 1230 we rejoined the bus for an optional excursion to Frederiksborg Palace and Castle, about an hour north of Copenhagen. The drive along the Baltic Sea coast was scenic and it was fun to listen to our local guide who was quite entertaining. The first stop was Frederiksborg Palace which is the summer residence of the royal family. We actually happened upon the changing of the guard. One of our fellow tourists was instructed to “MOVE!” when she inadvertently got in the way of the procession. 😳
