Shoaling in the Carolina Beach area can be a real issue especially when passing by little inlets like the one on the right. Trusty Aqua Maps with Bob 423 overlay is our best friend here showing us the way. Red spells danger and a sure way to run aground! Years ago, we actually followed some local fishermen out of this treacherously shallow inlet, but we soon learned that Masonboro Inlet, 9 miles to the north is the way to go if the ocean allows. Today, it does, at least from 12-3, according to Fishweather.🤞
