The Lofoten Islands form an archipelago in northern Norway (Nordland) which consists of five main islands linked by bridges and tunnels. It's become increasingly famous for its incredible scenery - with steep majestic towers of rock seemingly erupting from the Norwegian Sea, with #instagram helping it along the way. This is great for the area in terms of economy and it demonstrates the power of instagram to share and spread travel experiences, and inspire new travellers. However, it is hard not to wonder how the tiny roads, small villages, and amazing but limited infrastructure will cope under increasing numbers. That aside, it is an amazing and inspiring place, which with considerate and sensitive travellers, will remain beautiful for those that come later. . . .
