Kvalvika Beach
Jul 6, 2017 1:25am
White-sand beaches are perhaps not one of the features you might associate with northern Norway, but the Lofotens have them in abundance. Kvalvika beach pictured here is arguably one of the best. It's a short 2 km hike from the small car park to this isolated beach surrounded by steep glacier-carved peaks. For those wanting more of a challenge, the large cliff to the north of the beach can be hiked. It's 543 m up from the beach, so it's a beast of a cliff, but the views of the surrounding area are well worth it. This shot is partway up the very steep first section. Ironically due to the clouds and lack of wind in this small valley, it was extremely humid and I looked a bit like a drowned rat by the end... until the biting wind kicked in at the top... then a frozen rat... . . . . . #norway #lofoten #ryten #northernnorway #Moskenesøy #wanderlust #instanature #hiking #hike #passionpassport #landscape #beach #nature #travel #tourism #instatravel #igers #traveller #adventure...
