Onion Creek campground 23 mi on hwy 128 east of Moab. Raced other campers through and past 9 other campgrounds to secure this location. Happy to find a place. Jim referred to as Onion Orchard. Beautiful site, canyon of the Colorado, red sandstone cliffs weathering to structures similar to Monument Valley. Wind blew fiercely after bedding down. While the tent rain fly was flapping furiously, Jim expertly packed up the tent by moonlight.Thought somewhat remote but on way back to Moab Monday morning met hoards of Jeeps tearing down the road to lay waste to the high desert. Jim's remark...this is why we are tearing up the tar sands. Off to hike in Arches this morning.
