And then on Friday 7, 2018 school finally started for Emily! School seems to be very parent-friendly in the States. Kids can get breakfast and lunch there, school supplies cost only a tenth of what school stuff costs in Germany, workbooks (Arbeitshefte) are free and even labeled by (the poor) teachers and most of the kids' stuff stays at school in their lockers or in the secret compartment in their tables and, most importantly (at least in Gays Mills) the bus stops to pick them up at every single house (picture to follow). Kids seem to get very little homework, but then again are stuck at school until 15 35. There were no armed guards at the entrance like the media in Europe wants us to believe. There is not even a fence around the school's playground.

One Family, One Year, Just One Other Country

Aug 12 - 13, 2018
The date is drawing closer... We'll be heading to the US in four weeks! Let the adventure begin. I will use this blog to let colleagues and friends know what we are up to. I will try to post one photo every week that shows some cultural differences...
