Sainepu, our Maasai guide, spent the day teaching us about his fascinating culture while helping us search for wildlife. As a rite of passage, young boys of the nomadic tribe used to set out on their own with only a spear and a shield, hunt a lion, and return to their camp to be circumcised in order to earn their manhood. As if puberty wasn't hard enough already!
