We left Paris and travelled by train to CDG Airport to pick up our hire car. We drove in the pouring rain through Caen and Bayeux to Tracy Sur Mer. After checking in at Hotel La Rosiere we drove to Coleville Sur Mer and the Normandy American Cemetary. We walked down to Omaha Beach and after collecting some sand and rocks we drove to Vierville Sur Mer and had hamburgers and chips in a tent opposite the Dog Green American Military Camp while watching jeeps and armoured vehicles drive past us along the road. After tea we visited the beach at Vierville Sur Mer and the monument at Saint-Laurent-Sur Mer, arriving back at the hotel at 9.30pm.
