Chile, not the spicy kind, but the long coastline kind, flaunts Patagonia's crown jewels. From lush fjords to windswept plains.

Ferry journeys in Chile are not just a mode of transportation but an integral part of the adventure, reminiscent of cruising through Norway's majestic fjords. Chile's landscape is a tapestry of awe-inspiring fjords, meandering rivers, and serene lakes, each requiring a ferry crossing to fully appreciate its natural splendor.

Only two days into our exploration of Chile, these ferry rides became our gateway to experiencing the country's diverse and picturesque terrain. From the moment we boarded, surrounded by towering cliffs and crystal-clear waters, we knew our journey through Chile would be filled with memorable moments and stunning landscapes.

Ferry crossing into Chili

Ferry crossing into Chili

Ferry crossing into Chili

Missed the ferry!, Chile

After enduring a lengthy border crossing and mourning the loss of my cherished house plants to stringent regulations, we finally reach the ferry terminal. With our journey delayed until the next day, we seek refuge and ask a friendly local kiosk owner if we can park in his garden—for a nominal fee, he graciously agrees!

Tomorrow marks the beginning of our Chilean ferry adventures, and I couldn't be more excited. My previous visits to Lima were strictly business, so I'm eagerly anticipating exploring the wonders of Patagonia, a region renowned for its rugged beauty and untamed landscapes.

Sad to leave Argentina!

Sad to bid farewell to Argentina as we prepare to venture into Chile. Our recent wild camping escapade here was simply unforgettable!

Accompanied by Cian, we journeyed through the northern Andes of Argentina, aiming to cross into Chile via a remote border accessible only by a scenic ferry ride across Lake Pirihueico. Nestled along the lake's edge, our 'public/free' campsite offered tranquility, fishing opportunities, and breathtaking views of the surrounding greenery and cold waters (which Cian can confirm!).

Days were filled with leisurely walks through fertile landscapes to deserted beaches and woodland fishing spots, where despite the beauty, our efforts yielded no fish. Undeterred, Cian persisted in his fishing endeavors while I monitored from a kayak.

Our friendly Argentine neighbors shared their spearfishing skills, treating us to freshly caught fish for a memorable barbecue. Daily fresh bread from a local shop added to the idyllic experience.

We even ventured to a stunning waterfall one early morning, though Cian's need to return hastily to our truck for a poo added a humorous twist to our adventure.

As we reluctantly departed for the nearby border, we encountered surprisingly modern facilities and friendly locals, albeit with stringent regulations that sadly led to the confiscation of my beloved house plants. A bittersweet end to an otherwise perfect Argentine escapade!

After Cian bolted

The waterfall
