We will be enjoying this trip from January 20-27, 2024

Athens, Greece

We began today with a nice breakfast at the hotel and a pick up by Go Tours to see the city and then get dropped at the Acropolis.

The bus tour was great. We got to see all the main points and stop for a photo at the first modern Olympic Stadium. Our tour on the acropolis was cold and windy. Thank goodness I had my rain jacket with a hood. It was nice to be there with Marty, Julie, and Todd as they had never been.

After that, we went to the museum which is basically parallel to the Parthenon as it shows each of the sides and the artwork for each side. It’s amazing that we have these artifacts still around.

The four of us then walked to The Clumsies, a top 50 bar in the world that Todd learned about. Cool interior. I think they have made themselves known for specialty drinks, but the girls had wine and the guys had beer, so we didn’t really take advantage.

From there, we walked through the Plaka to a small restaurant and had saganaki, bread, and salads (girls) and souvlaki (guys). Full!!!! We took a cab (via Uber?) back to our the hotel. Marty is going to workout. I am going to read. We will leave at 6:30 for a hotel by the Acropolis. 6 am in the lobby tomorrow so it won’t be a late night.

Athens

We arrived in Athens after more than 24 hours of travel. After a quick shower and a much needed tooth brushing (Hotel Avenue), we had a lovely dinner at Ciao Italia.

Modern Olympix Stadium late 1800s

Parthenon

Parthenon

Thw Clumsies interior design
