Fun Time Is Over Sadly, we pulled up stakes this morning to head back to Walnut Creek. Although We left fairly early in the day, we still ended up running into some pretty heavy traffic. Note to self...stay until at least Saturday to avoid everyone leaving to get out of town. It was a fantastic few days at Big Sur and it is those memories that keep me going while sitting in traffic!

Beach Day! Today was another early morning wake up call but the difference was I got up, took the dogs out and then came back and went back to bed. We didn't end up getting the day going until almost 9:00 a.m.! Steve decided he'd like to try breakfast at the Roadhouse Restaurant so we headed there and afterwards we checked out Pfeiffer Big Sur State Beach which was close by. It was a challenge to get there (2 mile stretch of potholes and narrow road), but so worth it! We decided to come back with drinks and appetizers to watch the sunset. Again, so worth it. After another beautiful ocean sunset, we headed back to camp, got the fire started and had a delicious dinner. We had another movie night...this one much better.

Early to Rise... Today was started with a 6:30 a.m. wake up call from the dogs. Since we had gone to bed extraordinarily early last night…8:00 p.m. for Steve and 9:00 p.m. for me…the dogs had gone way past the usual time they could be inside before going out to do their business. After we got them taken care of we decided to go into town to have breakfast. From there we did a quick stop at Safeway, filled up the gas tank and checked out a Carmel beach with the dogs. The weather was so nice that when we got back we spent the afternoon outside relaxing and reading. I found a perfect spot by the river listening to the sound of water going over the rocks in the river. Fabulous afternoon! Before dinner we took a walk with the dogs into the part of the campground that is not yet open to the public. Then back for a fire, dinner and a movie. The movie was so-so but it’s fun to be able to watch a movie when we’re camping! Tomorrow is another day…maybe a picnic at the beach?
